Fractional Skin Resurfacing (FSR)

 

Fractional skin resurfacing is a cosmetic procedure that makes skin clear and smooth, and thereby greatly improves its appearance. 

Indications:

  • Skin rejuvenation 
  • Texture improvement 
  • Wrinkle reduction 
  • Acne scar
  • Enlarged pores
  • Traumatic scars

Before procedure:

  • Avoid the use of retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid and other products that are sensitive to skin, since three days prior to the procedure. 
  • Wash the treatment area thoroughly with water and soap in order to remove all lotion and makeup.
  • Dry the skin using a paper towel.
  • Your doctor will clean the skin thoroughly with 70% alcohol to dry it for better absorbance of the anesthetic cream.
  • He will then apply the anesthetic cream and leave it on for at least 40 minutes. 
  • At the same time, he will seal the area with a plastic wrap for better absorption of the anesthetic cream.
  • Subsequently, he will clean the anesthetic cream residues gently with 70% alcohol.  

Test Spot before performing procedure:

  • Your dermatologist will perform a test spot before starting the actual procedure to evaluate the intensity of the effect. 
  • He will observe the results after five minutes, and the reaction can help determine the exact level of energy required for the procedure. 

Procedure:

  • Earlier, they will apply moisturiser to your face to soften the effect of the handpiece. 
  • A handpiece that works on energy by emitting pulses of radio frequency is used to perform the procedure. 

On an average, dermatologists recommend four sessions at an interval of one week. 

Post Treatment care:

  • Keep the treatment area clean and avoid aggressive products such as chemical peels, etc. 
  • Apply moisturiser and lotions that are soothing to skin. 
  • Don’t shave the area for a week after the procedure. 
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for three days after the treatment. Likewise, use a sunscreen with SPF above 30.
  • Protect the area from any kind of friction. In the same vein, avoid rubbing over it or touching it frequently.
