There are lots of reasons why acne appears on the backside, shoulder, and chest. 61% of people in the world are facing the problem of back, shoulder, and chest acne. Similar to our face, our back also has a number of sebaceous glands, connected to the hair follicles, that secrete sebum- an oily substance. Sebum moves up the hair follicles to add moisture to the skin and hair. The buildup of extra sebum and dead skin cells blocks skin pores and bacteria. When the hair follicle wall swells out, it causes whitehead acne and when the clogged pore is exposed to air, it causes blackhead acne.
