Treatment

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

PRP treatment that involves re-injecting your platelet-rich plasma into your skin to repair it and remove scars and other visible signs of ageing. This is often used to treat delicate and difficult to treat areas like the skin under the eyes. The patient’s own blood is introduced back into the skin to stimulate the process of regeneration of skin cells and collagen. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses concentrated plasma that contains approximately 3 to 5 times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood. In addition, it contains various growth factors and other bioactive proteins that help in the rejuvenation of the skin.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy can make the skin look brighter, healthier, and younger within a short time. The procedure starts with the dermatologist taking a sample of your blood and isolating the plasma and platelets from the red cells. The plasma is rich in protein, so it stimulates collagen production within the skin. A topical cream is used before the procedure, and then the plasma is spread all over the face. The dermatologist will then use a micro-needling device to stimulate collagen growth, along with the PRP, to double the effect.

Once the treatment is done, you will experience some superficial pain and minor bruising. The results will take a while to show, especially if it’s your first time getting the treatment. However, most patients will notice skin tightening, and healthy glowing skin, after a few days. It’s best to have about four treatments at two-week intervals if you have to deal with scarring, skin damage, and other problem areas.
