Also known as “Yauvanapidika” in Ayurveda, Acne is a condition where your skin produces a lot of sebum. This excess sebum blocks the hair follicle pores, resulting in the formation of Acne. As per Ayurveda, Acne is caused due to the imbalance of Pitta Dosha. These vitiated Doshas produce toxins and result in Acne.

So all the Ayurvedic treatments for Acne focus on regaining Doshas’ balance. Treatments include alteration in diet or lifestyle and the use of various herbs and kitchen ingredients to treat Acne. They can be either topical or consumable.

Turmeric and Mint Mask

Turmeric holds immense importance in Ayurveda. Sometimes referred to as a wonder-spice, Turmeric can be of great help in treating Acne. Another ingredient is mint, which is rich in vitamin A. Mint can lighten the blemishes and acne scars on your face. 

To make a mask, crush fresh Mint leaves and take out its juice. Now mix this juice with organic turmeric powder and prepare a paste. Apply this paste to the affected area and let it dry for 15-20 min. Later, wash it away with lukewarm water.

Neem Paste

Another magical Ayurvedic treatment for Acne is neem. Neem is one of the most popular and widely utilized trees for various ailments. This is because its leaves possess anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. That’s the reason why Indians have been using Neem as a primary skin care product for hundreds of years.

Find some fresh Neem leaves for acne treatment. Crush those leaves and prepare a paste from them. If you don’t have access to fresh Neem-leaves, you can also use dried neem powder. Just mix a bit of lukewarm water in it and your paste is ready. Apply it on your skin and let it dry for 15-20 mins. Later, rinse it off with warm water. Do this every few days and you’ll see amazing results. 

Honey and Lemon

Honey is considered one of the most effective treatments for Acne in Ayurveda. And when you mix it with fresh Lemon juice, it becomes more effective. Honey is extremely effective in fighting multiple bacterias, while Lemon is a natural antioxidant and depigmenting agent.

Mix an equal quantity of Natural Honey and fresh Lemon juice in a cup. Mix it thoroughly and apply the mixture to the affected area. But make sure you avoid open Acne and wounds. Let it dry for about 25 mins. Later, wash it away with lukewarm water. With regular use, you can easily see the results. 

Cumin Coriander-Fennel Tea

According to Ayurveda, Acne is a result of the body’s internal heat. So if you can reduce the heat, you can reduce the Acne. Cumin Coriander-Fennel Tea can be an excellent Ayurvedic treatment for Acne. This all-natural tea keeps your body cool and heat producing toxins away. 

All you have to do is take 1/3rd spoon of each seed. Add it to the water and stir it. Once the tea is ready, filter it (you can skip filtering if you like seeds) and drink it three times a day. Do this for 1 month and you’ll see definitive results. 

Amla Juice

Amla is one of the most popular and widely used fruits in Ayurveda due to its remarkable properties. It’s considered one of the best natural resources for skincare. It’s extremely rich in Vitamin C and its regular consumption will help you keep your skin fresh. In addition, it’s rich in antioxidants and can help you fight free radicals as a bonus!

And preparing its juice is not rocket science. All you have to do is find some fresh Amla, slice them, crush them and prepare its juice for acne treatment. Drink one small glass every day and you’ll see amazing results.

Sandalwood and Turmeric Paste

Sandalwood is an extremely popular and effective Ayurvedic treatment for Acne. Its regular use lightens the blemishes. Mixing it with organic turmeric powder turns it into a natural anti-acne treatment. Its regular use will help you reduce acne breakout and will add a natural glow to your skin.

Mix an equal amount of turmeric powder with sandalwood powder and add some water. You can also use rosewater instead for better results. Apply the paste to the affected area, and let it dry for 25-30 mins. Later, rinse your face with lukewarm water.

Honey and Cinnamon Paste

Again comes our favourite honey! Our ancestors have used the combination of Cinnamon and Honey to fight Acne for centuries. Cinnamon stimulates blood circulation, while honey is a natural antibacterial. 

You can prepare a paste of roasted Cinnamon and Honey. Apply this paste on your face and let it dry for 15 to 20 mins. Later, wash away the paste with lukewarm water. Regular use of this paste can help you reduce acne breakouts and blemishes.

Are there any Side Effects of Ayurvedic Treatment for Acne?

All the Ayurvedic Treatment for Acne mentioned above uses 100% natural and organic ingredients. So, in general, there are no side effects of using these treatments. But, it’s possible that you might be allergic to some of the ingredients like Honey or Lemon and using them might lead to development of itchy, red rashes on skin.
